In order to eliminate the model factor, I have calibrated my A956 in the service menu directly.
If you want to set up your A786 so that it outputs a perfectly calibrated picture, you may use the following settings:
Service Menu
White Balance (WB)
Sub Brightness 128
R Offset 127
G Offset 128
B Offset 121
Sub Contrast 128
R Gain 146
G Gain 128
B Gain 152
WB Movie (Movie WB)
- If you have the new menu structure, go to "Advanced" then enter 0000+enter and enter the WB Movie menu, then turn on WB Movie and make the changes below in the overview.
- If you have the old menu structure, go to WB Movie directly, turn WB Movie on. You can then make the changes below either under White Balance oder unter WB Movie.
Warm 2_R_Gain: 165
Warm 2_B_Gain: 42
Warm 2_R_Offset: 126
Warm2_B_Offset: 127
Standard Menu
Backlighting: 10
Brightness: 44 (43-45 is fine, since black levels fluctuate depending on the actual content)
Kontrast: 92 (89 bis 97 is fine)
Gamma: 0
Color: 60
Color Space (corresponds to contrast of 92):
R 50/0/6
G 35/50/20
B 0/12/55
Y 52/48/22
C 31/49/45
M 52/12/48
Magenta will shift slightly when you increase or decrease the contrast. The other colors are quite resistant to changes in contrast and brightness.
Note: this approach should ignores any differences in model and software version and ensure white balance calibration regardless. Because we cannot exclude other structural differences in the software version, the values may still be bit off by a small margin. We can't know for sure before testing.
Before making those changes, please write down your current settings, though. Reversing changes manually for those items is an easy thing to do.
