Ok, so here my personal review about the Panasonic TC32LX700.
-- Video --
I really like the result; I feel that this model is clearly superior in colors, black/white, sharpness to both LG 32L2CD and Sharp Aquos LC32D43U.
Now I can feel why 120 Hz is clearly something that produces cleaner and smoother images. 120 Hz is not a requirement and certainly not revolutionary. You can't notice the difference immediately when you look at 120 Hz vs. 60 Hz, but you can notice one when you take time to compare with games for examples.
Scrolling, action, fast games really make a difference for moving details, moving texts . For example, with "Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI" for ps2 the city names, units, details, was clearly less blurry when I slowly scroll on the world map. 120 Hz also help to make movies to look smooth as butter. For example, you will feel that explosions scenes stayed focus on the screens. It's a little something that my eyes enjoy, but there is not a huge difference.
I think the color gamut on this television is very good. I clearly see colors that were not there before. Playing God of War 2, I was very pleased by the difference, sky, textures. Yes, there is an improvement. Also, I found that anti-alias for ps2 was just a little better on this HDTV.
Panasonic’s Intelligent Scene Controller does a very good job to manage backlight control and gamma correction. HD Sea life documentary are a pure delight to watch. It also impresses my friends while my two previous set didn't received this kind of comments.
Intelligent scene controller does a very good job, while not perfect. Sometime, I feel that persons faces (like Jay Leno) have too much gamma on it (maybe because of the spot light). In fact, I was not able to correct this by playing with the settings manually, anyway the result is still fine. Sometime, the result is clearly impressive. On Conan Late Night Show jacket's, the patterns was reproduced really well. I can clearly see the slightly light brown patterns on his dark jacket (it's was really difficult to notice). I guess I was not able to see that on my previous LG.
-- Audio --
Audio on this television is also very good. BBE sound technology produces a good sound, but sometime it's better to turn it off. I leave it on most of the time, and sometime turn it off. I’m not using an external sound system right now.
-- Inputs --
2x hdmi which is good, but three will be better...
1x component input is really a pain for me, since I often have to switch wires. It's really not enough .
3x composites input ... 3!!! Come on that too much...
2x s-video... it’s again not really helpful.
PC: I can't comment about pc input using DVI to HDMI, since my computer just can output using s-video. As you might expect, using s-video give disappointing result.
SD card slot: An interesting feature if use plan to use it often. Personally, I don't care so much about this.
-- Design --
Nice! It doesn't have a boring look. Built in Speakers is good looking. Nice elegant HDTV. Oh, I like very much the controller. The controller is easy and comfortable to use and nice looking.
Pros:
- 120 Hz clearly produces images more cleans for fast moving, screen scrolling video games, and movies feels more smooth.
- Panasonic’s Intelligent Scene Controller works great to manage backlight control and gamma correction.
- Colors are very good, gives a natural look, not candy colors.
- Image is sharp, clean.
- Nice 8500:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 1700:1 native.
- 6ms
- Settings adjustment slightly required only, default settings already works fine.
- Very good quality 720p, top of the line.
- I heard good comments on Panasonic customer service.
Cons:
- Is not 1080p full HD
- Only 1 component input.
- Overall brightness seems better on the Sharp Aquos L32D62U (maybe because it’s 2000:1 native contrast ratio on the Sharp).
- I found people's face was too bright, sometime too red on Jay Leno show ... but better on Conan O'Brien Late Night Show...
- Difficult to set up manual settings, and sometime the system reset the settings to default one... or else it's me made a mistake.
- Don't have analog input, or DVI input for PC.
So far, I really pleased with this set, I never have so much fun testing my DVD , playing videos games that my two previous HDTV. I also believe Sharp Aquos LC32D62U was a very good choice. So for the same price, 120 Hz vs. 1080p the choice is yours. I personally prefer 120 Hz since it's an improvement over previous models. I now have a winner and I'm going to keep this one.
This television is a Pro and I agree.
